Early spring has a way to give us multiple seasons in one single day. A cool morning walk can quickly turn into shedding layers and holding your layers before you even finish. By evening the temperature may drop again. After spending several seasons outdoors during this time of year, I learned that the easiest solution is layering. Instead of relying on one heavy piece, I combine lighter layers that allow me to stay comfortable as the weather shifts.
What Makes Spring Layers Different
Unpredictability at it's finest; Cool to warm mornings, warm to cold afternoons, with the occasional gust of either warm or cool wind makes a single 'layered' outfit impossible. Summer and Winter layers are predictable, Spring and Fall require that finese. For many Spring occasions we recommend a mid layer paired with a base layer top with a mid layer bottom.
Creating a Balanced Layering System
For transitional weather, start with simple pieces that work well together. The Alpine Haven functions as a comfortable mid layer bottom as it provides warmth while remaining lightweight.
